This month has seen two really great events take place in the village, a firework display and a remembrance tea dance.
On Friday 1 November Thurcroft Big Local held their first Firework Display. Since the Big Local started in 2012 this is something the local community have regularly asked for and this year, we decided to give it a go.
In January 2019 we booked Galactic Fireworks from Dinnington to provide the firework display. The event started at 5.30pm with children’s rides, food stalls and a disco. The firework display took place at 7pm. It was a really successful evening which brought all the community together. Over 2000 people attended and over £650 was received in donations. Due to the success, it was agreed to hold the event next year. Below are some quotes from the local residents.
“Had a fantastic night well done to all involved, Fireworks were amazing and can’t wait for next year. It did Thurcroft proud”
“Well done to all it was amazing and was fantastic to see most of the village turn out. Hope this will happen again next year, it was an amazing village atmosphere”
“Absolutely fantastic fireworks display well done to you all. Me and my family really enjoyed it and we can’t wait for next year”
On Wednesday 6 November a Remembrance Tea Dance was held in the bottom club from 1pm until 5pm, this is the third tea dance that has taken place.
Tickets were sold for £4.00 per person and this included a buffet, raffle, bingo and a live singer. 150 people attended the tea dance and everyone enjoyed it once again. £311 was raised on the raffle and this was split between Help for Heroes and The British Legion.
