The Dalton Community group have been trying to improve their capacity and their offer to the community. They already have several services attend the monthly session regularly such as local electorates Cllr Bennet-Sylvester and Cllr Baker-Rogers. The session is also regularly attended by RMBC housing.
This month the group decided that they would invite the community to host a tabletop stall alongside their coffee morning sessions to be able to attract a wider audience. The group had a decent amount of interest attracting 6 stall holders, although one had to cancel on the morning. Each of the stalls had some great craftmanship or good quality equipment. The session managed to attract 20 new attendees to the event. The group were happy to see that they had managed to attract some new faces to the activity. They also saw some familiar faces as their regular attendees faithfully attending.
The group have now decided that they will have stalls available as part of their community activity to establish more regular attendees. This means the session is now supports local business and community members. Some members of the group said they would be interested in a few games such as 3 & 5’s as the group also have some small activities that attendees can use such as card games, dominoes crosswords, Pictionary etc.
Kevin and Richard the community leaders of the Dalton Community Group continue to try new ways of engaging with the community. Every session they’re always talking smiling and love to be a part of the community.
